Interaction Design • Prototyping

Project Overview

This was a prototyping project that set out to explore alternative interactions for smart glasses, which didn’t rely on voice or touch input. The goal was to evaluate if subtle head movements could be interpreted as discrete user inputs, using only an accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope (IMU).

My Contributions

I was responsible for defining the interaction concepts, patterns, and UI design for the prototypes. I worked closely with the engineering team to build tools that empowered the UX team, which allowed for quick iteration of prototypes.

Config App

Created a configuration app for Jet that surfaced IMU sensor values. This allowed us to test triggers for different angle thresholds. We then assigned different actions to each trigger (e.g. open message on look up).
